Why We Invest
Black poets have long been the carriers of culture and lineage of truth. Through spoken word and literary expression, they have documented our histories, challenged injustice, inspired movements, and given voice to the experiences of our communities.
Yet despite their cultural impact, Black poets often remain underfunded, underpaid, and underrepresented within larger arts institutions. The Black Poets Fund exists to help change that.
Poetry goes beyond the stage. It is a tool for healing, advocacy, education, and social change. By investing in Black poets, we invest in the storytellers, truth-tellers, and cultural architects who help shape our communities and preserve our legacy.
